Case Studies

YOTEL Europe

Queen Street, Edinburgh

Premier Soft Landscapes was appointed to deliver the internal courtyard installation at YOTEL’s Queen Street site in central Edinburgh. The atrium space, visible from surrounding guest rooms, required a clean and contemporary landscape feature ahead of the hotel’s official opening.

Working within a restricted city-centre location and tight programme, we installed high-specification artificial turf, rockery, paving and custom-built sleeper planters over a felt roof base. Specialist membrane systems, drainage layers and free-draining underlays were incorporated to address existing pooling and structural constraints. Despite logistical challenges and external contractor delays, the project was delivered on schedule.

The result is a bold, structured courtyard installation that remains a visual statement at the heart of the hotel.

Ravelston Dykes

Edinburgh

Set within the established Ravelston Dykes neighbourhood, this private garden transformation combined clean architectural paving with family-friendly practicality.

The brief called for sleek Indian sandstone patios and pathways, cascading stone steps and defined lawn areas that would look striking from the house while remaining comfortable for everyday use. Working within tight access and a subtly sloped, triangular layout, we carefully aligned new paving with existing decking and incorporated freestanding sandstone-clad steps. Flamingo gravel was introduced to bring warmth and contrast to the grey palette.

Completed in under two weeks, the result is a structured yet inviting garden, equally suited to hosting and family life.

Hollyhock Glade

Livingston,

Edinburgh

This complete garden and driveway transformation in Livingston combined bold design with practical restructuring.

The client’s eclectic style inspired a layered layout featuring cedar Tegula block paving, station black porcelain stepping stones, making a bold statement set through the decorative gravel and a pond with integrated electrics. Significant groundwork was required to correct uneven levels and improve drainage throughout the site. KS kerb sets and permeable surfaces were used to define transitions and ensure long-term performance.

Completed in almost two weeks, the finished garden balances high-impact design with low-maintenance practicality as a distinctive space tailored to its owners and built for everyday enjoyment.
